Mechanical recycling technologies for textile waste (German) (Mechanische Recyclingtechnologien fur textile Abfalle)

The mechanical recycling of textile waste is described. There is no single recyling technology for textiles since textiles are very complex products consisting of a number of different fibres, structures and components. The chain of processes involved in the recycling of textiles consists in collecting, sorting, cleaning, mechanical shredding and re-use. Re-use can be for nonwovens, yarn and fabrics. The paper examines the current state of the technolgies used for the individual processes, including some deficits which still exist. Particular attention is devoted to yarn and fabric production and research into the use of shreded fibres.
