high-tech textiles: contribution made by finishing, in an example of functional sports and leisure wear

besides the specific fibre usage and the textile construction, greater importance is currently being placed on the finishing process in the production of functionally destined textiles. various methods have been suggested for the functional sports and leisurewear textiles in order, on the one hand, to achieve waterproof properties, while at the same time achieving a degree of vapour permeability and hence wearer comfort. the present article describes the problems confronting the textile processors, and the possible solutions actual developments in the field of textile coating are particularly discussed.
