soil extracted from clothing after wear contains lipids that include fatty acids, triglycerides and mono- and diglycerides. the distributions of the unsaturated oils - mono-olein, oleic acid and triolein - on fabric after laundering were analyzed. a durable press polyester/cotton fabric was soiled, aged and washed five time with an unbuilt, heavy duty liquid detergent at 38c. residual oleic acid and triolein were observed in the interfiber spaces, on the fiber surfaces, and in the crenulation, lumen and secondary wall of the cotton fibers.
