Psychophysical methods of measuring moisture sensation in clothing were used to assess the relationship between moisture stimulus intensity and moisture sensation in subjects for one body location and one fabric type. Magnitude estimation was used to assess the intensities of moisture stimuli when applied to the subjects' backs. The subjects were in good agreement on the rank order of the moisture levels. Magnitude estimation helps the clothing comfort investigator maintain a close correspondence between objective and subjective measures over the usual psychological scaling method. 23 refs.
