The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates that healthcare services will account for 14 percent of all new jobs created from 1998-2008 due to the increasing healthcare needs of the ageing population. Because many long term care facilities are ill equpped to handle the increasing volume of laundering, and few have adequately trained personnel, professional laundry facilities can increase their market share of linen rentals. Potential markets exist for rental of reusable underpads for beds, which require no ironing, finishing, or specific folding machinery; floor mats; and protective clothing, such as fluid resistant gowns. Healthcare facilities that rent these products can realize a significant savings in operational costs.
