Surgical gown with shielded adhesive closure device

Australian-based inventors have devised a disposable surgical gown for operating rooms. The invention features a gown with an improved design for the closure device and a method for fitting the gown. The gown has an opening, preferably at the rear to enable the wearer to put it on and at least one gown closure covered by a flap. A closure device holds the flap in position where it covers the gown closure. A shielded adhesive closure device removably attached to the flap enables operation of the flap closure. There are no exposed ties since these are contained underneath the sterile flap. The improved gown application procedure described in this article also helps to ensure a reduction of contamination in the operating theatre.
