Unitika Fibers Ltd. has developed a special nylon fabric 'Hygra' with excellent moisture absorbing and releasing properties that almost doubles those properties of cotton. The fabric employs a sheath-core-structured yarn of nylon and polymer composition that can absorb moisture up to 35 times its own weight. 'Hygra' is characterized by its lack of unpleasant feeling even during water retention, and functions and feels like nylon fabric. Unitika have marketed 'Hygra' for active sportswear, with applications including circular knit and cut sewn undershirts and sports innerwear.
