Compressive bandages and pressure garments

This article gives an overview of papers presented at the 1999 Medical Textiles Conference that was held in Bolton UK. It concentrates on the development of pressure garments where the longitudinal stretch in the fabric provides the radial forces required for different treatments. Pressure garments have been the major treatment method for Hypertrophic scarring since the 1970s and therapy has proved to be successful in controlling scarring.
