The use of technical textiles, woven, knitted and nonwoven, in place of classic materials is increasing for such purposes as landscape strengthening etc. Technical textiles for clothing are used for non-standard functions such as heat and dust protection. They are mainly made from chemical fibres such as polyester, nylon and polypropylene. They are also produced from special fibres such as glass, teflon and carbon fibre. The technical textile sector is the only sector of the textile industry currently registering continuous growth. The Europeans are in the forefront of technical textile production. Machines and processes for manufacturing clothing from technical textiles will be presented at IMB 2000 in Cologne.
