Tests on protective clothing with the aid of instrumented dummies are becoming increasingly essential in the development of safer and more reliable products. Several types of dummy are described and illustrated, e.g. thermal dummies, 'Arc Man' for tests involving electric arcing, heatable thermal dummies, ocean survival suits, sweating dummies, and dummies with chemical and moisture sensors.
