Textiles are used in a whole range of sports goods, from shoes to sports clothing, to meet a variety of requirements from leisure activities to extreme sports. Many manufacturers use the famous ‘three-layer’ construction for producing footwear and clothing, which consists of a base layer wom next to the skin for removing moisture, a second, thermal layer which guarantees comfort and thermal insulation, and an outer layer which controls the temperature and is responsible for comfort, suppleness, durability and appearance. A list is included, illustrating what types of sportswear and sports equipment contain textile elements.
