In dogs, injury to the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is commonly repaired with artificial textile materials. The dynamic mechanical behavior of this textile product must be similar to the natural CCL of the dog. Therefore, a test method has been developed to analyze the mechanical properties of the CCL substitute in a realistic way. Modulus, elongation, and failure properties are assessed for braided polyester and braided polyamide potential CCL substitutes.
