P&&S Filtration is a vertically integrated compnay in the United Kingdom that manufactures wet and dry filters at facilities in the United States, Europe, India, and Australia. Woven filters are mostly used in wet filtration. Applications for monofilament filters include the separation of particles, crystals, and pulps. Multifilament filters are universal, providing good retention, flexibility, and strength. filters made from spun yarns are heavy, but have excellent wear and abrasion resistance. Combining fiber and yarn types modifies these properties for specific end uses. For dry filtration, particularly the filtration of dust, needled nonwovens are superior. The use of spun yarns is optimal when dust is discharged by shaking or by counterflow airstreams. Multifilaments are best for wet filtration of heavy particles because of superior tensile strength.
