Nonwoven fabrics, particularly needled nonwovens, have use in dry and wet filtration, including the removal of particulate matter and in product recovery under a range of temperatures. High efficiency tubular bag filtes with continuous cleaning are optimal for the removal of solids, mainly in dust from exhaust air and in industrial gases. Compressed air cleans the filter. High temperature fibers are increasingly used in these filters. Du Pont's Tefaire needled nonwoven consists of a blend of 75 percent Teflon fiber and 25 percent fine glass fiber needled onto a Teflon multifilament woven fabric and heat bonded. This construction ensures high efficiency filtration and a triboelectric effect at low weight and pressure drop. The use of such filters is increasing throughout the world because of air pollution regulations.
