Horse hair upholstery fabric production is growing in Great Britain. John Boyd Textiles of Castel Cary, Somerset, is Britain's latest producer of horsehair fabrics for the fashion and soft furnishing trade. John Boyd sells 90 percent of its products overseas, mostly to Germany. The United States has been targeted as another potential export market. Presently, horsehair fabrics are blended with cotton or silk. The most traditional form of horsehair fabric is a sateen with horse hair on the face and cotton warp on the reverse.
