Within the technical textiles field the use of woven fabrics is increasing due to their versatility. Two examples of woven applications within the technical textiles sector are explored both in the automotive area: air bags and tyre cords. The air bag market, the technical requirements for the fabric, and its construction are described. The production of tyre casings on gripper shuttle looms is explained.
