The construction of an air bag is specified. It consists of several pieces of woven fabric sewn together which have a higher density in the vicinity of a seam than in any other portion; this increases the stress resistance. Circular pieces of fabric may be used. The resulting bag has a central portion of low weave density which may constitute either a front or rear panel. Another embodiment features a bag having centre and side panels which are cut from a fabric having areas of different weave densities. IPC B60R D03D.
