Delustred wool improves carpet performance

This article reports on a solution to the problem of shading in carpets due to the difference in the light reflection from the ends and sides of the carpet tufts which is due to the lustre of the carpet fibre. A treatment to delustre the wool fibres using an inorganic pigment is described, the use of which reduces the incidence of shading in plain carpets.
