Structural changes during the gelling of aqueous solutions of methylcellulose

Structural changes during the gelling of methylcellulose solutions are examined at 5-90℃ and solution concentrations of 0.003 to 0.5% by weight using X-ray diffraction, optical density measurements and rheological studies. The pattern of heat-induced gelling is related to the non-uniform structure of the polymer chanis.
