the authors examine the scientific-technical principles of utilization of agricultural waste to obtain combustible gases with the use of solar technology in azerbaidzhan ssr. the authors investigated the thermal decomposition of cotton, grape, and tobacco stalks by methods of derivative and chromatographic analyses when they were heated in an atmosphere of nitrogen, identifying the gaseous products of thermal decomposition, the thermal effects, and the change in weight of the plant material. the results obtained make it possible to determine the amount of volatile products generated in various stages and calculate kinetic characteristics of the gas-formation process
