fourier transform spectroscopy of the co b/sup 1/sigma/sup +/-a/sup 1/pi transition

the (0-0), (0-1), (0-2), (0-3) and (1-1) bands of the co b/sup 1/sigma/sup +/-a/sup 1/pi angstrom system have been recorded by high resolution fourier transform spectroscopy at laboratoire aime cotton. well-known perturbations of the a/sup 1/pi state, due to the /sup 1/sigma/sup -/, /sup 1/delta, /sup 3/sigma/sup +/, /sup 3/sigma/sup -/ and /sup 3/delta valence states, are reinvestigated additional extra-lines are assigned and some previous perturber assignments are revised. by combining the present fts measurements with those recently obtained for the a/sup 1/pi-x/sup 1/sigma/sup +/ system, new accurate energy levels and molecular parameters are derived for the b/sup 1/sigma/sup +/ state. in addition, the authors report preliminary results of the direct and global reduction of all the available data connected with the co angstrom bands, including the a-x and b-x systems recently reinvestigated
