for pt.iii see ibid., vol.39, no.2, p.359-68 (1982). the three-dimensional version of the csu regional atmospheric modeling system is employed to simulate thunderstorm development and organization in the environment observed after the passage of the mesoscale cold front. the results of this simulation is then compared to the observed flow fields of a convective cell. it is believed that the interaction between observed storm structures and numerical experiments is a very effective way to gain a solid physical understanding of the observed storm dynamics and the effects of the flow field in which is is embedded on its structure the cloud model, including the physics, numerical schemes and initialization, are summarized and the results of the post-mesoscale front simulation presented. predicted dynamic and thermodynamic fields are compared to direct and indirect observations. finally, the authors summarize the experimental results and draw conclusions concerning the observed structure of the convective cell
