more and more home banking services may be offering on-line discount brokerage capabilities on their systems, however it is highly uncertain as to whether private investors will cotton to such a service. this marketing effort is a prime example of the blurring of borders in today's emerging financial services industry. the idea of the one-stop financial shop that offers customers not only home banking and money market accounts, but also access to the stock market, may be a trump card for banks in a maneuver to get a piece of the pie from their cousins in the securities industry. several brokerage firms already offer on-line stock trading to personal computer users, but on-line trading has not yet become the rage in america. coupled with home banking, however, it may soon become one
