the pressure shifts and broadenings of 25 lines of kr i in the visible and near infrared have been measured with krypton at pressures up to 13 torr and with helium at pressures up to 30 torr at a temperature of approximately 340k. the shifts that are due to krypton either are to lower wave numbers or are too small to be measured, whereas those shifts that are due to helium are all to higher wave numbers. seven of the infrared lines and one visible line have the large (resonance) broadening associated with that type of line whose lower level combines with the ground state of the atom
