the development of the textinfos information system for the storage of factual information on textile machinery began at the research institute of the cotton industry in 1981. the authors describe the system which runs on two types of computers' adt 4500 and ibm pc compatibles. the software, written in pascal, handles' input of data: processing of data: output in table format: communications between the central database and ibm pc compatible computers: and comparison of parameters based on a statistical method. the system, which has been developed for a wide circle of users, ranging from r and d staff to management, can be used within the framework of technical projects as well as for the development of marketing concepts
