a small (100*210*191 mm) device is described for determining the ultimate strength of brittle metallic materials under uniaxial tensile load. the design features of this device ensure high measurement accuracy due to constantly uniaxial loading and strain vectors, the absence of stress concentration at the specimen ends and points of its gripping, as well as the possibility of strain rate control and of constant fixing of both specimen end during the test
