the investigation of non-thermal effects from weak fields is now undertaken by many agencies. in 1979 the us food and drug administration sanctioned the application of weak electromagnetic fields to healing of fractured bones. the sweep of research is indicated by 3 reproduced diagrams' one shows the close correlation between the natural atmospheric radiation and human error incidence, plotted over 24 hours. another plots growth of yeast cells vs wavelength and intensity of irradiating microwaves. the third displays the absorption coefficient of dna vs. frequencies in the 2 to 9 ghz range. other diagrams plot recommended limits of power density in mw/cm/sup 2/ vs. exposure time up to 24 hours and vs frequencies between 10 khz and 10 ghz, proposed in various countries: tightest figures are those of the ussr. brief information is given on protective clothing made of reflecting metallic textiles
