the difficulty of realizing practical device applications is complicated because of the unclear phenomena between material parameters and device performance. it is, therefore, extremely important to understand the impact of key material properties on devices and correlate those material parameters to preparation techniques (synthesis, crystal growth, surface finishing, etc.) the material quality is not the only limitation to less desirable device performance, but it is one of the major problems. this paper summarizes the major issues concerning the material properties from existing data. a more unified model for interpretation of the causes for the observed material phenomena is deduced subsequently. based on this understanding, then the key material parameters impacting different device applications are discussed
