the most important consideration in surface mount technology is post soldering cleaning. the purpose of this technical session is to provide information on the effectiveness of various approaches to obtain the best procedure. to remove the multi-chemical processes involved in pc fabrication and assembly may preclude a true understanding of the chemistry of the entire process. an effective approach may evolve from technical information presented at this session. this paper will confine itself to aqueous cleaning but will explore the possibility of a combination of both solvent and aqueous cleaning, a potential alternative when using fluxes normally removed with organic solvents
