patterned y/sub 1/ba/sub 2/-cu/sub 3/o/sub y/ films on y/sub 2/bacuo/sub 5/ substrates by a surface diffusion process

a technique which combines the fabrication and the patterning of 10- mu m-thick films of the high t/sub c/ superconducting y/sub 1/ba/sub 2/cu/sub 3/o/sub y/ directly on the y/sub 2/bacuo/sub 5/ ceramic substrates has been developed. the ba/sub 3/cu/sub 5/o/sub y/(3bacuo/sub 2/+2cuo) powders were patterned on the substrate by silk-screen printing and then heat treated at 930 degrees c for 3 h in an oxygen atmosphere. measurements of resistivity and critical current density at 77 k for a patterned y/sub 1/ba/sub 2/cu/sub 3/o/sub y/ film with a 250- mu m width and 10- mu m thickness show zero resistivity at 88 k and 10/sup 3/ a/cm/sup 2/, respectively the microwave loss measured on the y/sub 2/bacuo/sub 5/ substrate is found to be negligibly low below 77 k
