one possible approach to making films is to prepare polycrystalline layers by thick-film technology. the authors report the synthesis of superconducting oxide films with the composition yba/sub 2/cu/sub 3/o/sub 9- delta /. a mixture of yttrium, barium, and copper compounds in the proportions corresponding to the requisite cation ratios was carefully homogenized. sold-phase synthesis was then carried out in air. after the prepared stock material was ground, a paste with an organic binder was prepared the paste was deposited on aluminum oxide substrates by silk-screen printing. the thickness of the layers was varied over a wide range in order to make the final thicknesses of the superconductor from 10 to 120 mu m. after drying, the layers were fired in air at 1000 degrees c
