p/sup +/n n/sup +/ and pin low cost silicon solar cell technology

the results of a study into the fabrication of silicon solar cell panels using only simple techniques is presented. spin-on diffusion sources were used to form the junctions, while silk screen printing was employed forming the cell contacts. the photovoltaic diode developed during the course of the work has a p/sup +/n n/sup +/ structure with a textured surface and the same grid contact both front and back. while the cell itself has an efficiency of approximately 13.5 percent the panel efficiency is only a modest 8 percent due to the relatively low packing density of the round cells employed
