f.w. woolworth, manhattan, is exploring cost-effective electronic mail schemes. among the chosen is a pc-based communications package that allows pc-users to send documents directly to the firm's facsimile machines. called gammafax, the product, from gammalink, palo alto, ca, is a hardware/software package for the ibm pc, xt, at, and compatibles. consisting of a single printed circuit board and menu-driven communications software on diskettes, the package eliminates the need for a sending facsimile machine. satisfied that the package provides an efficient, reliable, low-cost messaging scheme, it is planned to broaden its use within corporate operations
