the author discusses their methods of production, which are similar to that for monolithic integrated circuits, their characteristics and the final means of adjusting their values. the thick film process, similar to that for silk screen printing, uses a stainless steel screen to apply the powdered pastiform resistive material to the aluminium substrate at high temperatures. the thin film process deposits the resistor material (nickel, chrome etc.) on the substrate in a thin metal film within a vacuum or inert gas. the resistors so produced have a thickness 100 times thinner than that obtained by the thick film process. they also have a better thermal behaviour and resistance tolerance. because of the different methods of production the different methods of final adjustment are described
