the structures of three lines of kr i have been investigated by means of an atomic beam containing metastable krypton atoms and excited by a cw single-mode tunable dye laser. the metastable atoms are produced inside the 'oven' of the atomic beam apparatus by a hollow cathode or by an electrodeless discharge. the isotope shifts of the stable even isotopes /sup 80/kr, /sup 82/kr, /sup 84/kr and /sup 86/kr have been investigated for the three lines lamda=556, 557 and 565 nm. the isotope shift and hyperfine structure of /sup 83/kr have been measured for the line lamda=557 nm
