the report focuses on the need to strengthen mali's micro- and small-scale enterprise (mse) sector as a means of stimulating economic opportunity and lowering the country's level of political turmoil. it analyzes the state of mse activities, describes institutions involved in promoting mse's, and identifies constraints to and opportunities for growth. six subsectors are examined: spinning and weaving, skins and hides, garmentd, vegetable gardening, woodfuels,and agricultural equipment. the report includes detailed analyses of production linkages, marketing forces, and specific opportunities and constraints in the six subsectors
