carbon fiber laminates with ballistic damage were repaired with equipment used for field repair. flush scarf repair were used with two different layer configurations, cup and butt. repaired laminates were loaded in tension until fracture. tensile strength was 55-75 of undamaged laminate. tensile strength for unrepaired ballistically damaged laminate were 50-60. the improvement in strength is insignificant. therefore, under the conditions, its uncertain if repair is the right procedure. filling and surface treatment is probably more economical. time for repair was measured to be 180 minutes
