as a contribution to the new activities in microengineering pursued by the karlsruhe nuclear research center a purely mechanical technique for microstructure fabrication has been developed jointly with messerschmitt-boelkow-blohm (mbb). the technique is based on surface structuring of foils by precision cutting with profiled micro-diamonds and subsequent foil jointing to a microstructure body the technique is the outcome of a method of mechanical fabrication of separation nozzles for uranium-235 enrichment, likewise developed in cooperation with mbb.
