The ability of Dornier rapier and air-jet looms to produce a variety of grades of woven fabric to meet quality requirements and minimize manufacturing costs is described. The components of the two types of loom are standardized, with the exception of the weft insertion system. Standardization also extends to the electronics. The weaving of spun-fibre yarns, performance with filament yarns and the manufacture of airbag fabrics are discussed.
