Dornier's double width air jet loom has a two-sided reed drive that uses complementary cams. This design ensures an even beat-up over the fabric width. A separate warp tensioning control with split warp beams maintains the tension, even with different warp beam diameters. A variety of weft yarns can be used because the load is decreased. Acceleration and braking are comparable with single width looms. The loom uses both single and split warp beams. An Electronic Warp Let-Off Motion (EWL) adjusts differences in warp tension in the split beams. A motor gearbox assembly drives the EWL.
