Simulation technique in textile research and development

The sucess of the European textile industry depends on the technological lead over the world market. Simulation techniques for process optimization and development can be an improtant contribution to this. Possibilities and selected examples of simulation programs are shown illustrated with examples from the textile industry. Simulation programs developed at the Departement of Textile Technology of the RWTH Aachen and being used in many areas of the textile chain are explained. Eight simulations for optimisation and automation of the weaving process and their application in the textile industry are explained in detail.
