Surface mechanical properties of fabrics in terms of hand: Part I - Shingosen fabrics

A measurement method for surface mechanical properties (especially fricitional properties) of fabrics in the relation with their surface hands has been developed. The effects of the friction probe form, probe velocity, probe weight and the section of suitable parameters representative of frictional properties are in vestigated. The relationships between surface hand and surface mechanical properties for Shingosen fabrics have been clarified, in comparison with silk-like fabrics and silk fabrics. An attempt is also made to simulate frictional properties by certain theoretical structure models of woven fabrics.
