KOTITI, as an organization for eco-label certification testing and analysis, objectively verifies the environmental performance and quality of eco-friendly products.
Eco-Label Certification is a national certification system administered by the Ministry of Environment(supervisory authority) and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute(implementing agency). KOTITI conducts testing and analysis for a wide range of product categories based on EL certification standards.
Overview of the Certification System
The Eco-Label Certification System is a national program implemented by the Ministry of Environment under Article 17 (Certification of Environmental Labels) of the Environmental Technology and Industry Support Act. Since its launch in April 1992, the system has certified eco-friendly products and services that demonstrate not only excellence in overall environmental performance throughout the product life cycle, but also superior quality and performance.
The Eco-Label Certification System is a voluntary program that identifies eco-friendly products and services within the same category of use. It certifies products that reduce energy and resource consumption while minimizing pollutant emissions throughout all stages of their life cycle, from production and distribution to use and disposal. Certified products are allowed to display the designated eco-label logo along with a brief description.
Purpose
Through the Eco-Label Certification System, consumers can clearly identify products and services with superior environmental performance, while companies can promote the high environmental value of their products and services by obtaining eco-label certification.
Certification Scope
The Eco-Label Certification System grants certification to products that generate less environmental pollution or save resources compared to other products of the same use. Applications for eco-label certification are only available for products and services for which official certification criteria have been announced.
Scope of Certification
Products subject to eco-label certification, as specified in the official notice Eco-Label Target Products and Certification Criteria [Annex 1] and [Annex 2], include office equipment, furniture, and office supplies; housing and construction materials, components, and facilities; personal items and household goods; home appliances and furniture; transportation, leisure, and cultural products; industrial products and equipment; multi-purpose and miscellaneous products; and services.
