Computer modelling of the mechanical properties of woven, knitted and nonwoven fabrics is considered. Various systems have been developed to describe the behaviour of fabrics. In addition to the geometric method and the energy method, there are four differnet modelling methods: joints and rods model, sheet metal model, joints and springs model, and the plastic model. Each of these methods models the mechanical properties of the fabric in a different way. Unless all the associated problems of the unified fabric model can be solved, the birth of a unified fabric model remains to be seen.
