In an objective evaluation of the quality of a fabric it is necesssary to consider the structural characteristics of the fabric. The wave-formed structure of the thread in the woven fabric measn that the actual length of thread present in the fabric is not the same as the length of thread absorbed in a length of fabric. A study of this difference can reveal changes occurring in the fabric during its production. The factor of covering can be used to assess the quality of a fabric. To calculate covering, the surface covered by textile material in a fabric must be measured mathematically. Equations are presented which can be used to calculate the two parameters discussed.
