The article presents the author's reflections on looms with a quick warp change facility with reference to the forthcoming ITMA-95 fair in Milan. He notes the time taken to change a loom from one operation to another and explains the concept of quick change: many of the operations involved take place away from the loom ensuring minimum possible stoppage time. Quick change operations are facilitated by sophisticated transport systems. Each manufacturer must decide the best way to incorporate quick change systems into his own factory.
