A method of weaving a three-dimensional fabric having a predetermined cross-sectional shape comprises: providing an aligned and tensioned array of planar warp yarns; arranging the yarns into layers in two, planar, mutually perpendicular directions in different reeds; forming a shed in one planar direction; inserting parallel weft yarns through the shed; and beating the weft yarns by means of a comb. The last three steps are repeated in the other planar direction for forming a three-dimensional structure. IPC D03C D03D.
