Automated systems for weaving preparation were exhibited at ITMA 1991. The automated machines included several warping systems. The USK Toptronic Sectional Warper is equipped with software that automatically adjusts machine operating parameters. The NZB series direct warping machines operate with residual lengths of less than 0.2 percent and use an automatic knotter. Automated creel loading systms and creeling aids were displayed. Requirements for mill automation from package storage to creeling are summarized. The components of such a system would include automatic units for storing, handling, transporting, and creeling yarn packages of various sizes and weights. The time and cost savings of automated systems are compared with manual systems.
