Michele Van de Wiele, the Belgian equipment maker has developed two extra-high-capacity jacquard machines to deal with the growing demand for machine woven carpets with eight and 10 pile colours. These machines, called PTX, are available in a 4480 and a 6720 solenoids version, which translates into a 13440 solenoids capacity for each machine. This reduces the number of jacquards to the bare essential and adds stability to the gantry without the need for any intermediate level, which will in turn ease servicing. Van de Wiele has also devised new electric components - the PTX power supplies feature low power consumption which can be as little as 33％ for each solenoid when compared to the PTR jacquard machines. As with PTR machines the PTX can access the VDW network.
