a 100 cotton batting - in combination wth cover fabrics made of 100 cotton, 100 polyester and a blend of polyester/cotton - was tested for susceptibility to ignition by cigarettes. the tests showed that when metallic fabrics were placed between the cotton batting and the cover fabric significant reductions were recorded in char length and char width even when additional cotton batting was placed between the wire mesh and the cover fabric.
